A total of 6,223 Wright County voters went to the polling booths Tuesday in selecting their candidates on Election Day.In unofficial returns,one of the key races of the day was for Second District County Supervisor. Republican Stan Watne was the winner as he received 3,768 votes to be re-elected to his seat. His challenger,Democrat Bill Drury received 2,145 votes. Rick Rasmussen was unopposed for his District 1 Supervisor race as he received 4,618 votes. Karl Helgevold was also unopposed for his Third District Supervisor seat as he received 4,565 votes. Wright County Auditor Betty Ellis received 4,799 votes. County Sheriff Paul Schultz received 5,002 votes. Voters in Wright County approved the public measure on an E-911 surcharge. The vote was 3,012 in favor and 2,329 voting no.
In the other returns, Republican Dennis Guth was the winner in the State Senate District 4 race with 3,504 votes in Wright County while Democrat Bob Jennings had 2,339.State. District 8 State Representative Henry Rayhons received 4,354 votes as he was unopposed. Republican Steve King received 3,221 votes for the U.S. Representative District 4 seat while Democrat Christie Vilsack received 2,691 votes. Wright County voters selected Mitt Romney as President as he received 3,309 votes and Barack Obama had 2,794 votes on Tuesday.
