 A car train accident seven miles southwest of Fort Dodge on Thursday night claimed the life of a 74 year old rural Fort Dodge motorist.The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Sheryl Ann Parks. The accident happened at about eight o'clock on Hayes Avenue. Reportedly a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Parks was approaching the railroad crossing just off of County Road D-20  but then entered into the railroad right of way, failing to yield. The Parks vehicle was then struck by a northeast bound Union Pacific train at the crossing. The train and car came to rest approximately 1700 feet east of Hayes Avenue on the tracks. The intersection has cross buck warning signs but no mechanized signaling devices. Parks was pronounced dead at the accident scene. She was alone in the vehicle.The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Webster County Sheriff's Department.
