Posted: Aug 01 2013 by ppowers

A Fort Dodge company will be responsible for the construction of a new MRI room at Van Diest Medical Center. At a special meeting Wednesday, the Van Diest Medical Center board accepted the bid from Jensen Builders in the amount of $292,091. The hospital currently contracts with a  mobile service that provides an MRI unit in a semi trailer that takes patients outside the hospital for the procedure. Plans call for the new MRI facility to be built on the back side of the hospital. Earlier this year the Van Diest Medical Center board approved the purchase of MRI equipment in the amount of $1.51 million dollars. The work on the new MRI room will begin next week with completion by the end of this year.
