Webster City Police investigated two motor vehicle accidents in the community Friday afternoon...

The vicinity of James Street and Mackinlay Kantor Drive was the scene of a two vehicle accident at 3:34  p.m. Reportedly a 2013 GMC Yukon SUV operated by Erin Hoversten Majewski of Webster City was stopped at the stop sign when she saw a semi truck with a trailer making a left turn off James Street onto Mackinlay Kantor Drive. The Hoversten Majewski vehicle began to back up to avoid the semi from hitting her SUV. In the end, the SUV struck  the front end to a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Emily Koppen of Woolstock. There were no injuries reported. Damage to the Hoversten Majewski SUV was estimated at $1000 and an estimated $3500 in damage to the  Koppen car. Investigating officer Joel Delaney cited Erin Hoversten-Majewski with unsafe backing on a highway.

At about 4:28 Friday afternoon an accident happened in the 1300 block of Second Street. Reportedly a 1992 Honda Accord driven by Shamari Khamsai of Webster City was pulling north on to Second from the Casey's General Store parking lot when Khamsai apparently failed to yield on entering the street and collided with an eastbound 1995 Chevrolet K-2500 pickup truck driven by Wayne Deakman of Cochise, Arizona.  Khamsai and a passenger in the Deakman pickup were taken to Van Diest Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The Khamsai car was totaled with damage to the Deakman pickup estimated at $500. Investigating Sgt. Shiloh Mork charged Shamari Khamsai with Failure to Yield on Entering the Roadway and Violation of an Instruction Permit.
