Trott pleads not guilty

 The man accused of murdering a Rockwell City police officer during a standoff last month has pleaded not guilty to the charge filed against him. 32 year old Corey A. Trott made the written not guilty plea on Monday via his attorney Charles Kenville. Trott is charged with first degree murder charge in connection with the shooting of Rockwell City Police Office Jamie Buenting on September 13. Trott refused to come out of a home at 502 Pleasant Street after officers attempted to serve a warrant on him for assault.Trott allegedly fired one shot from a gun, which hit Buenting. Buenting was rushed to a hospital in Lake City where he was pronounced dead. Trott surrendered shortly after 5:30 on the morning of September 13. He is being held in the Sac County Jail in Sac City. No trial date has been set.
