Stanhope City Council sets budget hearing for next month.

 On Tuesday night, the Stanhope City Council set March 11 at 6:45 p.m. for a public hearing on the 2014-15 budget with the public hearing on amending the 2013-14 budget  at 7:00 p.m. in the Stanhope community room. The proposed operating budget for the 2015 fiscal year was reviewed and approved. The total revenues for the city is at $832,915 and total expenditures of $800,215. The total tax rate for Stanhope property owners is $12.12. 

There was a discussion on the timetable for the filling of the City Clerk position with the goal of having someone on board to start part time May 1,2014 and full time on June 1,2014. Longtime Stanhope City Clerk Ron McKenize will be retiring on June 30.

Leigh Miller was approved as a new member of the Stanhope EMS Department.

An update on the 1997 fire truck purchased from the Glenwood Fire Department. The Stanhope council approve the eventual disposition by sealed bid of a 1986 Chevrolet fire truck with a minimum bid of $2,500. It was reported that the department will now have 2 1997 pumpers, a 1991 pumper and a 1982 model tanker.
