Sonksen sworn in as new Stratford City Council member.

Travis Sonksen was sworn in as a  new member of the Stratford City Council at the November meeting. Sonksen was elected to serve after winning the November 6th election.

The Stratford council voted to approve a five year contract with Waste Management for the collection and disposal of garbage and recycling for residential areas on a weekly basis in the Stratford community. Mayor Mike Neperney signed the agreement.

A proposal from Rehab System for $4,935 to line the interior pool pump pit was approved by the Stratford council. Financing for this will be made through the Local Option Sales Tax funds designated for the outdoor pool facility. Work on this project will begin in the spring.

The Stratford city council approved the renewal of the Volunteer Firefighter Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage for 2013 in amount of $444.60. A contract with Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield for employee health and dental benefits was approved for next year.

There was an update in regards to the Stratford Library Board and staff. Current Library Board members are Rick Adams, Christina Bauer, Marilyn Carlson and Jerry Janney. Mayor Mike Neperney will be appointing another board member since Heidi Heck has resigned. Diana Erickson is Library Director and Janis Johnson has been hired as a Library Assistant.

The council tabled action on the City of Stratford Action Plan until the next council meeting on December 10th.Prior to the council meeting there will be a 6:00 p.m. work session to discuss painting options for the exterior of the Stratford water tower.
