Roland Story School Board highlights.

 Last Monday evening, the Roland Story Community School Board accepted the bid from Academy Roofing for $84,000 for work on the middle school roofing project. A bid from Bailey Roofing for $66,900 for the high school roofing project was accepted. Both of the roofing projects will begin at the conclusion of the school year in early June. The Fiscal Year 2015 Budget Guarantee resolution was approved. The Roland Story Board also adopted the 2015 Fiscal Year proposed budget.

A contract with the Canvass for the Student Learning Management System was approved. The list of graduates for the class of 2014 was approved pending the succesful completion of the graduation requirements. The school calendar for 2014-15 was approved. Opening day of classes will be Thursday,August 14 with the final day being Thursday,May 21,2015 weather permitting.

There will be an increase in meal prices for the 2014-15 school year. Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade breakfast will be at $1.40 for students and adults at $1.65. Pre-kindergarten through 4th grade lunch will be set at $2.15, 5 to 12th grades at $2.25 and adults at $3.30 Special milk prices did not change however the name will now by referred to as snack time milk.

In other matters, the board approved an increase in pay for summer school teachers to $25 per hour and to approve a third class to be added as recommended by Principal Kate Hartzler. Requests for the FFA students to attend the national convention and for the high school basebal team to attend the College World Series in Omaha were approved.

The board accepted the resignations of assistant musical/variety show director Cathy Hermanson and elementary principal secretary Patty Schlorholtz. A contract for boy's golf coach Mike Risdal was approved. Contracts were also approved for learning coaches Michelle Sodestrum, Jil Hogan, Shelly Broich and Cheryl Larson. The board rejected the bids for the bus maintenance facilty in Roland and to rework the design, since the bids were over the budget. A nursing contract for Kristin Greenfield for next school year was approved.
