The Clarion City Council welcomed two new members at their Monday evening meeting.Barb Mussman and Dave Maxheimer attended their first meeting as council members. The two were sworn in at the December 30th meeting along with re-elected Mayor Mike Nail and council member Duane Asbe. Council members approved the appointment of Brian Marker as the new fire chief for Clarion and Peter Smith as assistant fire chief. Other appointments included Duane Asbe as mayor pro tem, Duane Asbe and Barb Mussman for financial matters and community recreation, Duane Asbe and Dave Maxheimer for municipal enterprise, Steve Evans and Lindsey Germand for the Clarion Library and Airport,Public Safety, Streets and Utilities.
Tom Madden of Yaggy Colby Associates was present to discuss the items for the 2013 Storm Sewer Project. He updated the council on the progress with the Wastewater Treatment Plant facility, regarding land acquisitions in which the City Attorney is working on and waiting for the D.N.R. to reassign a project engineer. The council also approved the second partial payment to Sande Construction for the Airport Hangar Project in the amount of $38,459
Lisa Hanson was hired as the Accounts Payable Clerk with her duties beginning January 13. The 2015 Budget Workshop will be held following the regular council meeting on January 20.
