League of Women Voters Candidate Forum this evening.

The Hamilton County League of Women Voters Candidate's Forum is tonight at 7:00 at the Webster City City Council Chambers. The forum is designed to allow the public to meet the candidates for office in the November 6th election and submit questions on issues heading into the election. Three of the four state legislative candidates will be appearing tonight. Republican State Senate candidate Jerry Behn of Boone and Democrat Shelly Stotts of Boone will be competing for the District 24 Senate seat. Democratic candidate Becky Perkovich of Napier will be appearing tonight for the House District 48 seat. Her Republican challenger Rob Bacon of Maxwell was invited to participate however he will not be in attendance due to the fact he will be out of state. Others appearing in the forum will be Van Diest Medical Center board of trustee candidates Myra Maxon and Carroll Ose. They are vying for the two seats on the medical center board November 6. Another candidate George Heller decided not to take part in the forum. Catherine Bergman will talk about the vote on the Hamilton County Hotel Motel Tax for rural voters. The uncontested candidates for county offices including Auditor Kim Schaa, Sheriff Dennis Hagenson, and Supervisors Doug Bailey and Wes Sweedler will be appearing this evening. Each of the candidates will give their opening and closing statements and a time to answer questions from the audience. Tonight's forum will be broadcast on cable channel 12 in Webster City and KQWC FM 95.7. Following the forum there will be a time to meet the candidates and enjoy refreshments.
