On Saturday, August 17, 2013 at approximately 1:45 a.m., a single-vehicle, double-fatality collision occurred near the intersection of 130th Street and Rose Avenue, three miles east of Livermore, in Humboldt County.
A 2003 Chevrolet Impala, registered to John Weisbrich of Humboldt, was traveling northbound on Rose Avenue south of the intersection with 130th Street . The driver lost control of the vehicle which dropped off the east edge of the roadway, rolled over onto the roadway and then slid to a stop on its roof south of 130th Street on Rose Avenue.
The vehicle was being operated by Cody Weisbrich, age 18, of Humboldt. He was treated and released at Humboldt County Hospital in Humboldt.
A passenger was Cody Schachtner, age 18, of Humboldt. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
A passenger was Joshua Naeve, age 19, of Humboldt. He was pronounced dead at the Humboldt County Hospital in Humboldt.
A passenger was Landon Nokleby, age 19, of Humboldt. He was transported to Humboldt County Hospital and then airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with life-threatening injuries.
A passenger was Tyler Zaugg, age 19, of Humboldt. He was treated and released at Humboldt County Hospital in Humboldt.
The collision investigation is being conducted by Trooper Mark Anderson, Reconstructionist, Iowa State Patrol. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation and any criminal charges resulting from that investigation are pending.
Assisting with the collision investigation were the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, Humboldt County Hospital Ambulance, Renwick Fire Department and Renwick Ambulance Service.
