House fire in Webster City Tuesday morning ( UPDATED 10:15 A.M.)

This has been a busy Tuesday morning for the Webster City Fire Department. For nearly three hours, firemen were on the scene of a house fire at about 6:15 this morning at the Lonnie Short residence, 104 Maple Avenue. When firemen arrived, flames were coming from the garage area. The fire then spread from the garage to the attic area. Residents inside the home were awoken by the barking of the family dogs and a fire alarm. There were no injuries reported. Webster City Fire Chief Mike Lund said the most probable cause was an electrical malfunction in the garage. There was heavy fire damage to the garage and attic,heavy water damage to the first floor of the home along with considerable smoke damage.
