HERO plans fund raiser for reopening the Webster Theater
Posted: Dec 20 2013 by ppowers

The doors to the Webster Theater closed last March. For Webster City movie goers,it meant driving out of town to see the latest movies. A group of local residents are trying to change that. The Help Entertain and Restore Organization (HERO) sponsored a meeting Thursday evening at Kendall Young Library explaining the plans to reopen the theater. The first phase is to raise $23,800 to purchase the building in downtown Webster City. This week a grant for $11,300 was presented to the HERO group from the Webster City Hotel Motel Fund for the reopening project. The second phase is to raise $80,000 to upgrade the digital equipment to show the movies, upgrading the utilities and for insurance. If you would like to contribute to the theater reopening project, you may drop off your donations at the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce. There will be a series fund raisers in the coming weeks.
