Hamilton County's unemployment rate for January is up.

 Officials with Iowa Workforce Development reported Monday that the unemployment rate for Hamilton County went up 8.3 percent in January. The unemployment rate for December was 7.2 percent. There are 6000 people who were employed in the county during January while 550 people were without work. Iowa's unemployment rate for January was at an even 5 percent which was the same rate in December. The January unemployment rates for surrounding counties included Boone County at 5.1 percent,Franklin County at 6.1 percent, Hardin County at an even 7 percent, Story County at 4.3 percent, Webster County at 7.6 percent and Wright County at 6.1 percent
