Good turnout for Tuesday's municipal elections

Lines were long when the doors opened for the municipal election on Webster City on Tuesday.By mid morning, an estimated 260 people had cast ballots at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where residents are voting in the race for city council. There are seven candidates vying for the three council seats. They are Linda Conaway, Mark Gillette, John Hopkins, Heather Kierzek, Matt McKinney, Jim Talbot and Logan Welch. The winners will be sworn in this January. Other contested races are in Jewell, Randall and in Stratford. Polls are open until 8:00 tonight. KQWC Radio will have live coverage of the election returns this evening from the Hamilton County Courthouse with the broadcast made possible by Webster City Federal Savings Bank.
