Posted: Jun 25 2013 by ppowers

On Friday, June 21, 2013 at approximately 12:14 hours Fort Dodge Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 300 N. 9th St. on a call of gunshots fired.  Almost simultaneously another call came in from the 800 block of 4th Ave. North - less than a block away.

Officers arrived to find Carodine, Cameron D. (23) of Fort Dodge with a single gunshot wound to his left hip area.  Mr. Carodine was transported to Unity Point Hospital by ambulance, treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Based on the ongoing investigation a suspect has been identified as Devone Martell Hameed (21) of Fort Dodge (see attached photo).  Hameed currently has an active arrest warrant for Attempted Murder and is currently being sought by police.  Devone is described as a black male 21 years of age; he is 6’ 01” and 140 pounds with a tattoo on his chest that reads “Desirae”.  The Webster County Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $1,000.00 for the arrest and conviction of Hameed. As in every case, Mr. Hameed is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Detectives, in coordination with partners from the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Webster County Attorney’s Office continue to follow up on information in this case.  We believe that there are additional witnesses who have valuable information that would help us to bring closure to the victim and his family.  Anyone with information should contact the Fort Dodge Police Department at (515) 573-1426,
