Fort Dodge motorcyclist fatally injured in an accident north of Duncombe Wednesday night.

 A 51 year old Fort Dodge motorcyclist was fatally injured Wednesday night as the result of an accident on Webster County Road D-20 one mile north of Duncombe. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Steven DeWayne Coppinger. Reportedly the 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Coppinger was traveling eastbound  when he reached a curve loosing control of his motorcycle south of the curve. The motorcycle exited the west edge of the roadway when it flipped ejecting the driver. Another motorcyclist was nearby and witnessed a portion of the collision but was not involved. Coppinger was initially transported to Unity Point-Trinity Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was then airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a protective helmet. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol with assistance from the Webster County Sheriff's Department.
