The Iowa State Patrol investigated a high speed chase late Monday afternoon that began in rural Webster County and ended in Fort Dodge. Reportedly a 1989 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by 26 year old Kyle A. Vance of Fort Dodge was clocked traveling at 89 miles per hour on County Road D-20 one mile west of Fort Dodge. Vance attempted to elude a law enforcement vehicle by speeding westbound on D-20. He then turned west on County Road D-26 to Road P-29 southwest of Barnum. Troopers pursued the Vance motorcycle north to Highway 7 and then eastbound on Highway 7 where it was joined by a Trooper with the Iowa State Patrol. Upon seeing other law enforcement vehicles, the motorcycle turned around and proceeded into the city of Barnum. After a short time, Vance left north out of Barnum and made another east turn on to Highway 7. Upon reaching Fort Dodge, the motorcycle turned south on Highway 7 and then exited onto Second Avenue South at the Business 169 clover leaf intersection. It then continued east across the Karl King Bridge to South Eighth Street. The vehicle turned south on South Eighth before losing control at the intersection Fifth Avenue South when he struck a curb.
