At a meeting earlier this week, the Eagle Grove Community School board set the date of August 12 for a public hearing on the bids for the boiler replacement project at the Emerson building. The board also accepted the following legislative priorities for the 2014 session. They include preserving integrity of the statewide penny, adequate and on-time English Language Learners funding, maintain and expand sharing incentives and opportunities, allowable growth and full funding and spending authority of the Instructional Support Levy. Eagle Grove school superintendent Jess Tolliver announced that registration will be held on Monday, August 5th will be held at the elementary building this year. Tolliver reported the progress being made on the roofing project and the improvements to the high school kitchen and lunchroom facilities this summer in time for the opening of the school year next month.
In another matter, the Eagle Grove school board approved an agreement with Iowa Central Community College for use of facilities for the 2013-14 school year.In personnel matters, the board approved contracts with Bruce Dahlhauser as assistant football coach and half time tech teacher at Robert Blue Middle School, Alycia Bowers as assistant cross country coach, Smokey Wilburn as assistant football coach, and the resignation of Deborah Benjamin as teacher associate was accepted. Teresa Pohlman was reappointed as secretary treasurer for the 2013-14 school year. Rick Engel was appointed as the school attorney and chief negotiator. Bids from Hiland Dairy Farms and Bimbo Bakeries for milk and bread for 2013-14 were accepted.
