Catholic Schools Week begins Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas in Webster City.

The students and staff of St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Webster City is gearing up the annual observance of Catholic Schools Week beginning Saturday. This year's theme is "Catholic Schools Raise the Standards". A Mass featuring the young people of the church will be featured. They will serve as greeters, singers and lectors. Following the Mass, there will be a free chili supper in the parish gym and an open house to view the outstanding work by the young people plus a Scholastic Book Fair in the school cafeteria. An all-school kickoff will be held on Monday with Principal Duane Siepker's PowerPoint presentation. This will be followed by treats for everyone including hot cocoa and glazed donuts for the students before classes. On Tuesday morning at 9:00 there will be a live broadcast on KQWC FM from the Parish Center as we interview the students and staff.  On Friday,February 1, the school will celebrate the prayer partners at the student Mass at 8:30 a.m. There will be a beach party in the parish gym. The staff will be honored with a late afternoon luncheon. The following Friday, February 8, the students will enjoy a day of snowboarding and snow tubing at Seven Oaks near Boone. A day to celebrate the school's grandparents and grand-friends will be held in the spring.
